Trevor McIntosh: ph 0432 074 870. Trevor has an open barge.
Peats Bite – Tanya – email at bookings@peatsbite.com.au – also ph: 9985 9040. (We need to be very careful and patient as they are our neighbours and doing us a favour given their busy restaurant business schedule). The boat is covered and they time our requests with their restaurant transfers.
Be sure to store these numbers in your phone, ask for the rates when you book (as they are subject to change) advise you are going to Taracoonee/Sunny Corner. If you are running late - be sure to call in advance to minimise waiting charges or missed transfer.
Please be aware water taxi operators have variable costs to cover, including (but not limited to) fuel, insurance and public liability. Loading/unloading times are also a factor. These costs are reflected in their charges.
Getting to Kangaroo Point
Kangaroo Point is on the southern side of the Hawkesbury River on the south-eastern side of the two car bridges over the river. Access to Kangaroo Point is via the Newcastle expressway (F3) or the Pacific Highway. It is quicker via the expressway. Parking is available at two levels –you will see after taking the Kangaroo Point turn off, the road forks – the left fork goes up to a higher level where you can park whilst the lower level goes down to the water. In the first instance it’s better to take the right fork, proceed to the water and unload the car and then find parking.
From the Sydney CBD
Cross the Harbour Bridge & take the North Sydney exit. Proceed to the Pacific Highway. Take the Pacific Highway to Wahroonga – following all signs to the Newcastle expressway (F3). After about 45 minutes (depending on the traffic) you will pass Abbotsleigh on the left (make sure you are in the right hand lane when passing Abbotsleigh) and then turn right at the second set of traffic lights – onto the start of the Newcastle expressway.
Via Expressway from Wahroonga
Kangaroo Point is about 30 minutes along the Newcastle expressway (F3) from the Wahroonga entrance (off the Pacific Highway, just past Abbotsleigh).
From the Wahroonga F3 entrance, drive along the Newcastle expressway, over the Hawkesbury River Bridge in the left hand lane. Take the Mooney Mooney, Brooklyn exit (the first turn off on the left, after crossing the River). Go through the roundabout and follow the road around going under the expressway. Turn right at the “T” intersection onto the Pacific Highway and recross the Hawkesbury River (heading in a southerly direction towards Sydney). Turn first left after recrossing the River – this is Kangaroo Point.
Via Pacific Highway from Wahroonga
If traveling north via the Pacific Highway, Kangaroo Point is the last right hand turn before the Hawkesbury River. You do not cross the River.
Once at Kangaroo Point, please proceed to the Public Wharf (the wharf closest to the car bridge) to meet your Water Taxi.
From Central Railway Station - catch the Sydney-Gosford-Newcastle train to Hawkesbury River railway station.

You will need to collect a Water Taxi from the Public Wharf at Brooklyn or you can catch the Hawkesbury Riverboat Postman (see below).
From the train platform, climb the stairs, turn right at the top & walk down the stairs & turn left - head for the water & ask for the office of the Hawkesbury Riverboat Postman - ferries to Dangar Island also leave from the same location - be sure you are on the right boat!
Hawkesbury Riverboat Postman Australia’s Last Riverboat Postman may provide transport for people who have all day to travel to Taracoonee. The Postman leaves from the Ferry Wharf, Dangar Rd, Brooklyn NSW 2083 about 9.30am Monday - Friday and arrives at Taracoonee at about 12 noon. Taracoonee is not a designated stop - you need to alert the driver and staff before boarding that that's where you want to get off & also if you want to be collected from there at a later date.

If you plan to bring a boat and access the pontoon, please contact our caretakers before you arrive, to discuss mooring arrangements.
Be sure to allow for tidal variations if you tie up to the wharf. To avoid the boat becoming stuck under the wharf, we recommend putting out a rear anchor and making it fast. Also avoid mooring on the western side of the wharf (in front of the boatshed) given the number of sunken concrete pylons.
